Tara grew up on an acreage ten miles west of Sioux Falls, SD. She earned an Associate's Degree in Graphic Communications from Southeast Technical Institute. Afterwards, she lived in Fort Collins, CO for seven years. During that time, Tara completed coursework in jewelry, metalsmithing, and drawing. and design while attending Colorado State University. Over the years, Tara has trained with several artisans in metalsmithing and beadwork techniques.

In February of 2006, Tara was hired as the gift shop manager for the Horsebarn Art Center, 3009 East Falls Park Drive, Sioux Falls, SD. Tara enjoys greeting the visitors, working with volunteers and selling the art and crafts in the gift shop.

In her jewelry, Tara is inspired to incorporate beads and found objects with a variety of textures and materials. The look of her jewelry is informal yet sophisticated. Tara enjoys the process of creating jewelry from bending wire for hooks to stringing beads and fastening found objects. Currently, Tara and her husband, Andrew, sell their artistic wears under the Red Door Creations label.


Andrew grew up in Colorado Springs, CO. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Over the years, Andrew has developed his skills in woodworking and sculpture and has mentored students in painting, sculpture and abstract art.

Andrew is a regular volunteer at the Horseban Art Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He enjoys talking with the visitors and other artists and helping with various tasks such as lighting and hanging art.

In his painting, Andrew is drawn to the mesmerizing beauty of the plains. He has studied the Impressionists and prefers to paint landscapes in his own unique Impressionistic style.
